Rooted & Renewed
At HTC we believe that the most important kind of vision is shared vision. And we are exploring where the Lord might be leading us in the next season of life together.
You are invited to join us for a special three-part series of conversations over the next few weeks as part of our Rooted & Renewed journey. Together we will listen, pray, and discern how God is calling us forward as a church — rooted in the city and renewed for mission.
Conversation 1: Mentoring for Longevity — Discipling Across Life’s Milestones
Monday, October 20 - 6pm at 218 South Wabash (meal included)
God has given HTC a gift of maturity and rootedness. How do we raise up a new generation of disciples for long-haul mission? This discussion will focus on mentoring across seasons of life, equipping leaders, and deepening gospel relationships that last.
Conversation 2: Expanding Our Capacity to Welcome
Monday, November 3 - 7:30pm ZOOM
Our congregation has grown rapidly, and our sanctuary and children’s ministry are full. How do we create space where every person feels known and loved? Together we’ll explore how to expand our space and strengthen our ministry capacity to welcome and disciple more people at the heart of the city.
Conversation 3: Facing the City and World with the Love of Christ
Monday, November 17 - 6pm at 228 South Wabash (meal included)
Jesus calls us to love our neighbors and cross boundaries with the gospel. How do we live as a community sent for the good of Chicago? This session will invite us to think together about fresh global mission and local evangelistic efforts and loving the city as Christ has loved us.
Come be part of the conversation — and the vision.
Life in Our Creative World: Forming Christian Imagination through the Arts
God’s world is full of beauty and mystery. A brilliant sunset, an immersive novel, a feast with friends, a captivating painting, a simple poem – all speak of God’s creative power and generosity. This year’s cohort, Life in Our Creative World, invites participants to explore Christian themes—such as creation, fall, redemption, longing, and hope—through the lens of art. Each session will engage our imaginations through a curated combination of fiction, music, and visual art or poetry, helping us to behold and delight in God’s beauty. Together, we’ll cultivate a Christian imagination that is culturally engaged, full of wonder, and shapes our love and desire for God.
Unlike previous Cohorts, books will not be provided or included in the cost. As we are reading classic literature, you should be able to borrow from the library or purchase as desired.
This Cohort meets 5 times throughout the academic year (see dates below) with dinner and childcare provided. There is also an Open Forum on Nov 21 that will further dive into these topics.
Register by Oct 24 to guarantee childcare.

Together, we’ll pursue holiness in Christ, grow as leaders, find strength in community, and live out of the grace that holds it all together.
Step away from distraction. Solidify your life. Move forward with purpose.

OPEN FORUM: C.S. Lewis and the Transforming Power of Imagination
C.S. Lewis’s enduring influence lies not only in his intellect but in his extraordinary ability to use imagination to convey truth, challenge assumptions, and open readers to new ways of seeing the world. From the magical lands of Narnia to the visionary journeys of The Great Divorce, Lewis crafted stories that reveal spiritual realities, illuminate moral truths, and awaken the human imagination.
Join us for an evening with C.S. Lewis scholar, Dr. Jerry Root, as we consider how imagination shapes faith, informs reason, and transforms the way we perceive God’s world —offering insight not only for readers of Lewis, but for anyone seeking to understand the power of story in our cultural moment.

Faithful Witness in a Polarized World
In our present moment of deep division and political tension, how can Christians be Salt and Light in their workplaces? Join Faith & Work Chicago for a morning with Kaitlyn Schiess—author, speaker, and public theologian—as we explore how to represent Christ with wisdom, humility, and grace in these turbulent times.
Kaitlyn’s work on faith, politics, and public life offers a compelling vision for Christian engagement marked by wisdom and grace. Drawing from her books The Ballot and the Bible and The Liturgy of Politics, she will help us consider how the gospel shapes our conversations, relationships, and integrity at work and how we can be faithful witnesses even in our polarized public spaces.

Genesis to Revelation: How Each Book Unfolds God’s Story
Genesis to Revelation: How Each Book Unfolds God’s Story
We’ve often heard that the 66 books of the Bible tell one big story about God—but how exactly do they fit together? What are the genres, themes, and unique contributions of each book? Many of us know the well-loved stories—Noah’s ark, David and Goliath, Jonah and the great fish—but how do these seemingly isolated moments connect to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus?
This 6-week course will survey Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, helping us see how each part of the Bible contributes to the larger story of redemption.
We will meet in person on Sun mornings (11:00 AM - 12:15 PM) from Oct 19 - Nov 23. Childcare will be provided, but you must register by Oct 5 to guarantee the availability of childcare providers.
Please drop us an email if you have any questions.

Being Human: Embodied, Whole, and Alive in Christ
Being Human: Embodied, Whole, and Alive in Christ
What does it mean to be human? Evolutionary biologists claim we are the product of natural selection and adaptation. Enlightenment philosophers emphasize our rationality and autonomy. Modern Western culture suggests there is no fixed truth, and we curate our own identity based on feelings and desires. Over and against the various truth claims, Scripture upholds a clear and compelling vision of embodied humanity as the pinnacle of creation, made in God’s image and redeemed by Christ.
This 6-week course seeks to understand what it means to be human from a theological perspective, surveying the story of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
Childcare will be provided, but you must register by Oct 5. Please drop us an email if you have any questions!

An Evangelistic Vision For Work
An Evangelistic Vision for Work
On June 26th, we will kick off our series by thinking about how we share our faith in word and deed in our places of work. There are so many questions as we consider this topic. Does private faith even belong in the public square? Should we be concerned about HR issues in bringing up faith conversations? How can we walk in wisdom and faith so that we don't put up stumbling blocks to the Good News of Jesus Christ? How can we build trust and make natural connections with our co-workers?
Join us and professionals from various industries to think deeply about these questions and explore answers together. We'll start with dinner and connecting at 6:00 with content at 6:30.
